About Us

Calm, trusted governance for organisations where public trust is everything.

Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd is an independent advisory practice providing board-level governance, risk, and safeguarding advisory to organisations operating in high-trust, high-accountability environments.

We work with boards, trustees, and senior leadership teams of charities, NGOs, foundations, and mission-driven organisations — particularly those operating internationally — to strengthen oversight, clarify accountability, and support sound decision-making.

In sectors defined by mission, public confidence, and ethical responsibility, governance failures can carry profound human, reputational, and organisational consequences. Our role is to support leadership in preventing those failures by embedding proportionate, effective, and well-understood governance arrangements.

Calm, trusted governance where public trust matters most.

Roberto Rocca is the Founder and Principal Advisor of Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd. He brings over two decades of senior international experience across financial services, public governance, and the charitable sector, supporting boards and senior leaders in matters of governance, risk, and safeguarding.

His career has been shaped by work within institutions where public trust and accountability are fundamental. Prior to founding Meridian, Roberto held leadership roles that immersed him in complex governance environments, with responsibilities spanning institutional oversight, risk management, and ethical stewardship. Alongside his professional career, he has maintained a long-standing commitment to charitable service, holding trustee, chair, and non-executive roles within faith-based, youth, and international service organisations, including Rotary.

In recognition of his service to faith and charitable causes, Roberto was invested as a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre (KHS), a papal honour reflecting a sustained commitment to service, responsibility, and stewardship.

This combination of professional rigour and voluntary-sector insight enables Roberto to bridge principle and practice. He approaches governance not merely as a framework, but as a living system of accountability that protects an organisation’s mission, people, and reputation.

Roberto founded Meridian to offer a calm, proportionate, and strictly independent form of advisory support. He works exclusively at board and governance level, providing independent, non-regulated advice to help senior leaders navigate complexity with clarity and confidence. His work includes a strong focus on safeguarding governance within charities and NGOs operating across multiple jurisdictions.

Operating from London, Roberto partners with boards and senior leadership teams in Mauritius and internationally, supporting them in strengthening the foundations of trust upon which their impact depends.

Roberto is an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and works with boards, trustees, and senior leaders to strengthen governance, risk management, and organisational resilience.

The Board’s Safeguarding Governance Checklist

Safeguarding is one of the most sensitive and consequential responsibilities a board carries.

To support Chairs, Trustees and board members, we have developed a concise, board-level safeguarding governance checklist designed to help organisations reflect on whether their oversight arrangements are clear, proportionate and effective.

What it is

This checklist helps boards:

  • Clarify accountability for safeguarding governance
  • Assess policy ownership and review discipline
  • Reflect on culture, tone and behavioural expectations
  • Understand reporting and escalation arrangements
  • Consider assurance and continuous oversight

What it is not

This checklist is not:

  • An operational safeguarding manual
  • A policy template
  • A substitute for management responsibility

It is a governance-level reflection tool to support informed board discussion and assurance.
