Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd is an independent advisory practice providing board-level governance, compliance, risk, and safeguarding advisory to organisations operating in high-trust, high-accountability environments.
We work with boards, trustees, and senior leadership teams of charities, NGOs, foundations, and mission-driven organisations — particularly those operating internationally — to strengthen oversight, clarify accountability, and support sound decision-making.
In sectors defined by mission, public confidence, and ethical responsibility, governance failures can carry profound human, reputational, and organisational consequences. Our role is to support leadership in preventing those failures by embedding proportionate, effective, and well-understood governance arrangements.

Our work is grounded in independence, proportionality, and clarity.
We provide calm, objective challenge and support, helping boards and trustees navigate complexity without overburdening organisations with unnecessary process. Responsibility for decisions and operations always remains with the organisation.
Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd does not provide legal, audit, accounting, or investment advice, and does not act in executive or management roles.

Roberto Rocca is the Founder and Principal Advisor of Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd. He brings over two decades of senior international experience across financial services, public governance, and the charitable sector, supporting boards and senior leaders in matters of governance, risk, safeguarding, and compliance.
His career has been shaped by work within institutions where public trust and accountability are fundamental. Prior to founding Meridian, Roberto held leadership roles at global financial institutions including J.P. Morgan, BNY Mellon, and Barclays, with responsibilities spanning institutional oversight, risk management, and ethical stewardship across multiple jurisdictions.
Alongside his professional career, Roberto has maintained a long-standing commitment to charitable and public service. He currently holds the following active governance appointments:
These roles span faith-based organisations, youth services, education, and international humanitarian causes, giving Roberto direct and current experience of the governance challenges his clients face.
Roberto's commitment to public accountability extends to elected office on both sides of Europe. Between 1997 and 2011, he served for fourteen years as an Elected Councillor of the Comune di Milano — one of Europe's largest and most complex city councils — contributing to policy oversight, public governance, and institutional accountability at municipal level. In England, he subsequently served as Elected Councillor for BCP Council (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) from 2019 to 2023, holding the position of Vice-Chair of the Scrutiny Committee, where he was responsible for challenging executive decision-making and ensuring public accountability to residents. This experience of elected public office across two countries gives Roberto a perspective on institutional governance, civic accountability, and public trust that is rare in the advisory sector.
In recognition of his service to faith and charitable causes, Roberto was invested as a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (KHS), a papal honour reflecting a sustained commitment to service, responsibility, and stewardship. He is also an incoming Knight of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
This combination of professional rigour, active board-level responsibility, and faith-based service enables Roberto to bridge principle and practice. He approaches governance not merely as a framework, but as a living system of accountability that protects an organisation's mission, people, and reputation.
Roberto is an Affiliated Member (CG Affiliate) of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland and an
Associate Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD).
He works with boards, trustees, and senior leaders to strengthen compliance, governance, risk management, and organisational resilience, with clients in the United Kingdom, Mauritius, and across Europe.

At Meridian Governance Advisory Ltd, we provide:
Meridian has no products to sell, no audit relationship to protect, and no management role within your organisation. Every recommendation is given solely in the interest of sound governance — free from conflicts of interest, commercial pressure, or institutional agenda.
Roberto holds current, hands-on governance appointments across faith-based organisations, education, youth services, and international charitable causes. This is not theoretical knowledge — it is real, contemporaneous experience of the pressures, dilemmas, and responsibilities your trustees face.
Meridian has been built specifically to serve charities, NGOs, and faith-based organisations operating in high-trust, high-accountability environments — including Catholic dioceses, religious orders, churches, foundations, and international NGOs. We understand your culture, your obligations, and the particular weight of public trust in your sector.
Governance advisory should strengthen your organisation — not burden it with unnecessary process. Every engagement is tailored to your mission, scale, and risk environment, with a clear focus on what actually matters for your board's effectiveness and accountability.
We provide six areas of board-level advisory support: Governance and Board Effectiveness, Board-Level Risk Oversight, Compliance Review, Safeguarding Governance for International Charities & NGOs, Board and Trustee Training, and Strategic Advisory Services. All work is independent, non-regulated, and delivered exclusively at board and governance level.
Our clients include NGOs, charities, faith-based organizations, foundations, trusts, and any international organizations in need of governance advisory.

Faith-based governance is a core specialism at Meridian. We work with Catholic dioceses, religious orders, parishes, schools, and charitable foundations, as well as organisations from other Christian traditions and faith communities. We understand the theological context, canonical obligations, and the particular importance of public trust in faith-based environments.
We aim to respond to all enquiries within one to two working days. Subject to scope and availability, most engagements can begin within two to three weeks of initial agreement. For urgent matters — such as a governance crisis, safeguarding concern, or imminent board review — we will always seek to accommodate faster timelines where possible.
Yes. Meridian works with boards and leadership teams in the United Kingdom, Mauritius, and internationally. We have particular experience supporting organisations that operate across multiple jurisdictions and must navigate cross-border governance, safeguarding, and compliance obligations.
Engagements are tailored to each organisation. Some clients engage Meridian on a retainer basis for ongoing board-level support and a trusted sounding board. Others commission a discrete governance or safeguarding review, or a one-off training session for their board or trustees. All engagements are confidential, scoped carefully, and delivered exclusively at board and governance level — never at operational or management level.
To support Chairs, Trustees and board members, we have developed a concise, board-level safeguarding governance checklist designed to help organisations reflect on whether their oversight arrangements are clear, proportionate and effective.
